Our Team

  • Carol Sartorius, PhD

    Principal Investigator - Professor
Dr. Sartorius earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and PhD from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, both in Molecular Biology. She did her postdoctoral work at the University of Colorado Boulder and is currently a Professor of Pathology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz). She is an active member of several graduate programs with an interest in training the next generation of scientists in the field of hormones and cancer. Her laboratory trains predoctoral students as well as postdoctoral and clinical fellows. In her own time, she enjoys pool and open water swimming, master gardening, and hiking.

  • Jessica Finlay-Schultz, PhD

Lab Manager - Research Assistant Professor
Dr. Finlay-Schultz received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. During her postdoctoral fellowship she was funded by an NRSA to study progesterone receptor (PR) signaling and impact on growth in breast cancer cell lines and PDX. Following her fellowship, she transitioned to laboratory manager and research faculty in the Sartorius lab. She is currently working on a project based on her original discovery that PR interacts with RNA Polymerase III and regulates tRNA transcription in breast cancer cells. Outside of the lab, she is active in the University of Colorado Marching Band Alumni Association, homebrews beer and cider, and knits.

  • Ben Hastings, BS

    Professional Research Assistant
Ben is a Professional Research Assistant who joined the Sartorius lab in 2022. He is a Colorado native and received a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Colorado Mesa University. Ben plans on pursuing a biomedical sciences doctoral degree in the near future. He is currently working on a project involving extracellular matrix and signaling molecules that mediate late HR+ breast cancer metastasis. Some of his hobbies include playing volleyball, hiking, snowboarding, reading books, and watching movies.

  • Kirsten Cosper, MS

    Predoctoral Trainee

Kirsten recieved a BS and MS in Biological Sciences from Wichita State University. She joined the Molecular Biology graduate program in 2023 and is investigating abberrant lipid metabolism in endocrine resistant breast cancer cells.

  • Ilin Joshi, BS

    Predoctoral student

Ilin received a BS in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota followed by a postbac at the NIH studying inflammation in lung disease. Ilin joined the Molecular Biology Graduate Program in 2023 and will be working on mechanisms of steroid receptor regulation of small RNAs.

Recent Past Team Members
